Many parents see the value in encouraging their children to learn to play a musical instrument. Practice must be done every day for success. If children don't do the work, they will fail. This teaches a child discipline. Being part of a school band or orchestra is also good for children. They learn teamwork and socializing with other children at the same time. It helps them learn to cooperate with others as well as providing them an additional area of socialization.

There are many advantages to playing a musical instrument during school years. Due to budget cuts, some schools have dropped their music programs. They must still practice, attend lessons and work with others to achieve their musical goals.
